Stepping into authorship has taught me that obedience does not end when the book is written — it deepens when the book is released. In this second week of my Author Journey, I’ve been reflecting on the importance of clearly communicating my purpose for writing Blind Faith. When your “why” is vague, others will fill in the blanks for you. But when your purpose is clear, curiosity builds naturally. I’m learning that communicating vision is not self-promotion; it is stewardship. If I do not articulate the value of what God gave me, I cannot expect others to recognize it.
Along with visibility comes feedback. Some advice is wise and refining; some is simply noise. The key lesson I’m learning is order: hear God first, then receive feedback. Scripture anchors me in this — “My sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27, KJV). When direction is confirmed through His Word and through the peace of the Holy Ghost, feedback becomes a tool for refinement rather than a force of redirection. Discernment allows growth without compromising conviction.
This week also stretched me through connection. Participating in the Women in Publishing conference expanded my perspective and reminded me that community grows where communication is intentional. Expanding the LolaGets85 community onto Facebook reinforced another truth: visibility requires courage. If I had not communicated about the book, the bundle, and the journey, there would be no curiosity and no conversation. Faith may begin privately, but impact requires articulation.
More than anything, I am learning that God does not compete with outside voices — He steadies the heart that listens. When I prioritize hearing Him first, I am free to grow strategically without losing spiritual alignment. This journey is not only teaching me how to build a brand; it is teaching me how to communicate purpose with clarity, receive feedback with humility, and move forward with confidence rooted in discernment. Obedience, when anchored in His voice, becomes both peaceful and powerful.
